Hypothesis testing part 1: Hypotheses, p-values and significance levels (in-person)

Understanding the process of setting up and conducting a statistical hypothesis test is a fundamental skill in statistics.

This two-part workshop is designed for anyone who would like to learn or revise this topic.

There is no required pre-knowledge for this workshop.

Part 1 will cover null and alternative hypotheses, significance levels, test statistics, p-values and what it means for a result to be statistically significant.

Part 2 will discuss type 1 and type 2 errors and “meaningful” significance vs. statistical significance. We will also apply the knowledge we have acquired to examples.

Participants are welcome to attend just part 1 or both parts.
